FREE WORKSHOPS

Nommo workshops range in size and scope and include both established and emerging writers, poets, lyricists, playwrights, journalists, and other creatives from the Black community. at they tend to be smaller, more intimate, and more casual.

 

We meet  to discuss  issues relating to writing and publishing, to help each other out with resources and ideas, and to read and critique each others original, unpublished work.

BECOME A MEMBER

Join a writing community of artists  and activists dedicated to the uplifting the voice and vision of Black people in Chicago and throughout the Diaspora. Nommo Gathering Black Writers workshops are free and open to adult writers interested in joining our collective. 

Members have access to exclusive content curated for writers and creatives,including calls for submissions, grant and funding opportunities and other resources.

 

ONLINE CLASSES

Nommo writers can receive  can  skill development and exclusive motivational and literary tools through our online digital classroom designed with you in mind.

We provide the structure, community, and encouragement to help black people find their voices, achieve creative goals, and build new worlds—on and off the page.

 It is time for Black People to reclaim our stories; to speak our truth; and teach our people about who we are, why we are, and how we came to be so we may heal from centuries of anti-Black racism, suffering, and pain.

We are a diverse and beautiful people with many unique stories to tell.  Become a  Nommo Writer and join a community of authors, poets, screenwriters, essayists, journalists, playwrights, graphic novelists, songwriters,  and other creatives who are committed to the health, security and wellness of our people and the Diaspora.
